Monitor

See what a Jungle object or field holds right now, while your game runs.

The Monitor window comes free with every Jungle plugin. Add a component or a field to it and it shows that thing's current state, live, with the views each plugin adds and the matching gizmos in the Scene view.

Open it

  • Window > Jungle > Monitor opens the window.
  • Open in Monitor on a Jungle component adds the whole component.
  • On a Jungle field, press its Monitor button or pick Monitor from its menu. Pick Stop Monitoring to take it out again.

What you see

  • The object. Each entry is named after the thing it watches. The object field under the name pings the owner when you click it, and the line below it says where the field sits. The tickbox in the bar pauses the entry without removing it.
  • Current values. Numbers, vectors, colors, objects, and the values nested inside them, updated every frame.
  • Plugin views. Each Jungle plugin adds its own panels: what a detector sees right now, which objects a filter let through, what a hand is holding, how full a tank is.
  • Scene gizmos. Positions, directions, shapes and ranges are drawn in the Scene view while their field is in the window. Each gizmo row has a tickbox that hides it and shows the colours it draws with.
  • Modules. Every panel is a module. Press × on one to drop it for that entry, and Add Module at the bottom to pick another the type supports.
  • Nesting. A field monitored on its own shows Show In Parent, which adds the owning component and tucks the field under it. Monitorable Parameters at the end of an entry lists the fields inside it you can add.

Want history?

Monitor shows the current state. Jungle Inspect shows how things got there: values graphed over time, timelines of events and processes, logs and errors traced back to the scene objects behind them, Monitor Field on any Inspector property, and deep copy and paste. See Inspect.
