Scene Object Id

Gives a scene object a permanent id so an asset can point at it.

Add Component → Jungle → Scene Object Id. Namespace: Jungle.Core

Overview

Unity does not let an asset hold a reference to an object in a scene. Jungle gets around this: when you drag a scene object onto a field in an asset, the object gets a Scene Object Id and the asset stores that id. Once the scene is loaded, the asset finds the object again.

You almost never add it yourself. It is added for you the first time you drag the object onto such a field.

Fields

Field What it does
Id The permanent id, generated for you. Do not edit it: every asset already pointing at this object would lose it.

Note

A prefab asset has no id. The id is given to each copy you place in a scene.
